Painful defeat of India

India won the one day tri-series cricket against toughest teams Australia and Srilanka. Its a great surprise just because Australia were the overwhelming favourites before the start of that series in its home country. But, on the contrary, yesterday India was painfully surprised when its rejuvenated hockey team suffering a shocking defeat at the hands of Britain. Ofcourse, this defeat may not dim the chances of India getting qualified for Olympics. But still, considering that this tourney is a must win for India to get into Olympics, the defeat against Britain is not a good sign. India can enter final by overcoming minniscule Chile team. And, in the final India might once again play Britain to get Olymic qualifying honour.

The way Indian hockey team playing from recent past, its well established prediction that this team is going to become numero uno in hockey world. Virtually, we never expected India to suffer defeat against any team, that too against Britain. Carvalho developed Indian team in such a way that the team was perfectly singing to his tunes. So Indian hockey team's defeat against Britain is as shocking as the Indian cricket team's shocking victory against Australia.

As an after-math effect with this defeat there are possibilities of two shocks to be followed. One is that India may not qualify for Olympics. And another one, the more shocking indeed, is that Indian hockey administration may sack our hockey coach Joachim Carvalho. India can manage to redeem its pride even when they are not qualified for Olympics. But the team would not be in a position to recover when it loses Carvalho's services for it.

First lets hope that India qualifies for Olympics. If not so, lets hope Carvalho remains unperturbed in this team.
